Another outstanding French university sports season for the University of Bordeaux Sports Association and its partner institutions!

Over 400 students proudly represented the university in high-level competitions this year.

These young athletes excelled in 28 different disciplines, including 10 team sports and 18 individual sports.

The performances of these student-athletes were remarkable, as reflected by the 41 French championship titles won in individual sports. Their dedication, hard work and talent have been rewarded on numerous occasions, propelling them to more than 130 podium finishes.

As for team sports, the season ended with 2 French university championship titles in tow.

The men and women's handball teams, the athletics team, the badminton team and the volleyball teams all demonstrated their cohesion and team spirit.

This 2023 sports season was marked by moments of personal achievement, combined efforts and passion for sport.

Sports delegations across Europe

With the vivid memory of their many medals at the European University Games in Lodz last year, the University of Bordeaux Sports Association (ASUBx) teams are more motivated than ever to renew their titles.

The sports delegations have been preparing for the 2023 European university championships for many months and will kick off on June 25th, starting with women's football in Albania. No fewer than seven teams will proudly represent the University of Bordeaux and its partner universities in this prestigious competition.

This year, the competition is not being held in a single country, as was the case last year in Lodz (Poland).

This summer, each sports competition will take place in a different country:

  • Women's football - Tirana, Albania - 25/06
  • Men's tennis - Grenada, Spain - 03/07
  • Women's handball - Podgorica, Montenegro - 08/07
  • Women's volleyball - Braga, Portugal - 15/07
  • 3x3 basketball - Debrecen, Hungary - 15/07
  • Mixed judo - Zagreb, Croatia - 20/07
  • Beach sports - Malaga, Spain - 18/09

All French university champions in 2022, the athletes selected for these European championships are more determined than ever to bring home as many medals as possible.

Let's wish them the best of luck!
