Committed to the social and economic development of its region, the University of Bordeaux has longstanding working relationships with a number of companies, industries and socioeconomic partners. The modes of collaboration and partnership with these stakeholders take on many forms.
Companies trust the University of Bordeaux both for conducting research programmes and for training or providing support to their current and future employees. There are no less than 23 joint research and innovation initiatives (SRCom) with companies or organisations. The development of environmentally-friendly polymers, high-powered lasers or organic photovoltaic solar cells, sustainable construction and renovation are among the SRCom research topics. These partnerships lead to practically 750 contracts with academic partners and companies every year. Since 2014, there have also been 2,100 publications resulting from company partnerships.
Nearly 100 companies hold the UB Friendly label, created in 2014, to acknowledge organisations that host interns or apprentices, pay the employer apprenticeship tax to the university, are involved in training or work together on research with laboratories.
