The University of Bordeaux's SDG report

Updated on:

For the second year running, the University of Bordeaux has published its "SDG report", a document listing the actions and projects carried out by the institution that contribute to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. Without seeking to be exhaustive, this report provides an overview of the acceleration of the transitions policy within the university.

"No poverty", “Zero hunger”, “Good health and well-being”... The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations in 2015 are primarily aimed at its member states. However, as their implementation depends on the full commitment of regional and local stakeholders, major companies, local authorities and public organisations rapidly made use of them as a reference point for analysing and assessing their environmental and social responsibility.

The University of Bordeaux has recently published its second SDG report, revealing the structural elements implemented by the institution for each of these goals (programmes, study courses, services for students and staff, etc.), key figures ("30% reduction in water consumption on campus since 2014") and highlights of the 2023-2024 academic year (events, new project launches, etc.). This report also presents various "focuses" on major concerns or achievements, such as student mental health, the month of inclusivity or the RIVAGES regional research network, which studies the coastlines of New-Aquitaine.

This document is intended to be updated each year: the teaching and research teams, student community and administrative services of the University of Bordeaux are invited to suggest, as of now, new projects to be highlighted in the next edition.
