This new institutional project aims to help the University of Bordeaux to sustainably diversify its own resources, in accordance with its values and missions, and thus contribute to the consolidation of its economic model. The DReAM project is in line with all the major programmes promoted by the university and its Horizon 2030 strategy.

The resources granted to the university should enable the establishment to more rapidly develop a portfolio of targeted activities: lifelong learning, European projects, technological platforms, property enhancement, to generalise the culture of economic development throughout the institution and within its components, and finally to acquire new professional skills, in particular marketing and sales skills, as well as high value-added support functions such as financial optimisation and strategic human resources management.

The DReAM project aims to increase the university's resources and thus offer new financing measures for our primary missions. It will also create opportunities for the development of training and research activities by fostering the connection of teachers and researchers with the university's partners.

Samuel Maveyraud, Vice-President for finance and resources

DReAM's overall strategy is based on a pragmatic approach which, without underestimating potential obstacles, aims to make the most of the institution's existing strengths and ecosystem:

  • the opportunities offered by an intensive multidisciplinary research university, both international and rooted in its territory;
  • the initiatives launched thanks to its strong commitment to socio-environmental transitions, in line with the growing demand from society and businesses and, more generally, in phase with the needs of a changing world;
  • a networked structure open to its environment and to the world, encouraging the initiatives of its components and communities, and providing access to cutting-edge knowledge and expertise, as well as to spaces, technologies and infrastructures.

With regard to the activities that generate resources today, the DReAM project will enable the University of Bordeaux to gain in maturity and competence thanks to a set of methods, procedures and an organisation adapted to the size of the institution and the structure of its environment:

  1. the creation of a development department with the aim of deepening the relationship between partners (companies, associations, etc.) and lecturers and lecturer-researchers, and to raise awareness of the University of Bordeaux's skills.
  2. the development of new digital tools around a customer relationship management system (CRM) to manage interactions with partners and potential partners. We will also implement software to manage sales targets and pricing of services.
  3. the introduction of new working methods based on monitoring indicators and dashboards, regular sales management meetings and portfolio reviews.
  4. the deployment of a new alumni policy to develop contacts with our former students who are potential and natural partners of the university.
