For its 4th edition, the annual ceremony awarding the University of Bordeaux's PhD students their doctoral degree was held on Saturday April 1st 2023, at the Pin Galant auditorium in Mérignac.

More than a thousand attendees gathered to witness this symbolic moment. Roger Marthan, Director of the Graduate Research School, and Dean Lewis, President of the University of Bordeaux, praised the work of the graduates and their contribution to scientific research today and in the future.

New in 2023, Jean-Jacques Hublin, palaeo-anthropologist and professor at the Collège de France, was the main speaker at the ceremony. His speech, aimed at the young doctors and the general public, focused on his scientific work and his vision of academic research.

The doctors from each of the university's 8 doctoral schools were then called on stage to receive their diplomas, as an emotional conclusion to the years spent by these young researchers pursuing their theses.

To the University of Bordeaux's doctors: you can be proud of yourselves. Be open to the world, show great flexibility and agility, but above all, follow through on what you believe in!
