Sociology Faculty

Updated on:

The Bordeaux Sociology Faculty welcomes approximately 850 students from the Bachelor to the Doctorate level. It offers an accessible, diversified range of courses in different sociological theories and methodologies.

The programme offers a comprehensive curriculum, from the Bachelor degree to the doctorate, allowing students to acquire the empirical, methodological and theoretical knowledge needed for the analysis of contemporary societies.
The courses taught by the Sociology Faculty enable students to broaden their knowledge in a few major subject fields, such as urban sociology, health, education or history and sociological theories with the aim of training students to practice a discipline in its most diverse uses: research, expertise, preparation for competitive exams, social work, journalism, opinion surveys, etc.

After the Bachelor degree, students can enrol in the Master in Teaching, Education and Training (MEEF) "Social and Economic Sciences", in preparation for the competitive CAPES exam, and with the CAPES teach the subject in secondary schools.

The Sociology Faculty lecturer-researchers are affiliated with the Emile Durkheim Centre research laboratory (University of Bordeaux – Sciences Po Bordeaux - CNRS UMR 5116).
