Every year, the Medical Science Faculty (UFR) welcomes over 12,000 students for courses ranging from the Specific Access Course to Health (Pass) to postgraduate studies and continuing education. It also admits 4,000 students for a 3-year nurse training programme.
The Faculty is made up of two departments: general medicine and specialised medicine and includes several schools, departments or paramedical institutes.
Courses are based on the most recent medical knowledge, which is put into practice at the Bordeaux Bordeaux University Hospital, which offers a state-of-the-art training environment.
The research teams, whether academic or associated with major scientific institutions (INSERM, CNRS), actively participate in medical research.
International exchanges for teachers and students (study abroad programmes, Erasmus, hospital internships) help to provide the necessary global awareness.
Postgraduate studies, via a rich diversity of degree programmes, allow practitioners to gain more in-depth knowledge and to specialise (and obtain a Doctor of Medicine degree).
