Institute of Balneology

The Institute's research and training missions, backed by the availability of a documentation/resource centre and the development of international exchanges, are at the heart of the scientific, medical and socio-economic issues related to the field of water and health.

Located in Dax in the Landes region, the Institute covers a total surface area of  1600 sqm and is equipped with research laboratories also used for educational purposes, a technological department dedicated to applied research, an auditorium seating 200 and classrooms.

Its educational programmes related to water for health purposes and balneotherapy include a very wide range of courses integrated into the European Bachelor-Master-Doctorate system, within the framework of higher education, continuing education and apprenticeships, mainly at the University Diploma (DU) and vocational Bachelor degree levels.

The development of research in thermal healthcare engineering plays a major role and is rounded out by more fundamental research conducted by doctoral students.
